Heavy pendant lamp designed by Gaetano Sciolari (1960s)
A magnificent, heavy, and brilliant Sputnik chandelier designed by Gaetano Sciolari for Ateliers Boulanger in Brussels, Belgium. This particular piece was in very poor condition when I found it; many arms could be moved 3/4 cm left/right, and the internal threaded ends were mostly stripped. However, this showpiece has been completely disassembled and, with the help of a professional metalworker, fitted with new threads on the mounting pins. The wiring has also been completely renewed and connected. Photos of the restoration are available. This can therefore rightly be called a new chandelier, yet it is already 50/60 years old.
In near mint condition with minimal signs of age and use, this unique design from the hands of one of the great names in lighting design! The pieces by Sciolari for Boulanger were never mass-produced, making these lamps desirable and sought after among connoisseurs.
